Raised beds for either flowers or vegetables are becoming increasingly popular. They not only allow you to make the most out of a small area, but they promote healthy plants and large yields. They are very versatile. You can make a random design using several different connectors to make a unique creation or stick to a standard shape. By using pivoting connectors, the design possibilities are endless. They come in different heights and are made out of durable aluminum.

The walls of these beds are made from standard 2 inch lumber or plastic planks. Typically the lumber makes for a very appealing look when it is used for a flower bed. The dark planks are more often used for gardens since in is non-reactive and its dark color absorbs more heat, keeping the raised bed warmer at night. This additional heat helps keep the roots warm and increases your produce yield. The raised design also promotes better drainage, fewer weeds (since you are filling it will clean soil), more efficient water usage, fewer slugs, and it makes it really easy to use the gardening method as well.

Once this is set up, it is relatively maintenance free due to its compact nature. There is also the benefit of not having to reach and stretch to get to things in the garden, making it easy to tend to when the time comes. This is certainly an option to consider, not just for ease of operation, but for visual appeal as well.
