Tsukomo Cypress Bonsai Tree
(chamaecyparis pisifera tsukomo)

Native to Japan, the scale-like leaves (needles) are bright green during spring and summer and slightly dull green during fall and winter. Lower branches are shed when the tree is young, revealing reddish-brown bark that peels in long strips. Inner branches often die out; encouraging new growth with annual pruning. It has a round or pyramidal growth habit and is extremely hardy. It has a very slow growth rate which is why it is hard to find. Keep outdoors. 8 years old. 8" tall.

Variegated Willow Bonsai Tree
(salix integra 'hahuro nishiki')

Rare and very choice, this lovely dwarf semi-weeping willow was brought to Holland from its native Japan by renouned Dutch botanist Harry VandeLaar in 1979. Its new foliage is absolutely white developing a green varigation with age. The new shoots are pink maturing to a deep reddish color and is showy all summer, while its coral-orange stems are striking and elegant. One of our favorites. Deciduous. Keep outdoors.

Weeping White Birch Bonsai Tree
(betula pendula 'trosts dwarf')

This dwarf only grows to 3-4 feet tall, and is highly sought after for bonsai. It has a fine textured thread-leafed light green foliage that looks like a weeping laceleaf maple. Has a peeling bark trunk with pendulous catkins. Distinctive white bark which is colored by a pigment called, appropriately enough, betulin. Much loved for bonsai because of their elegant beauty. Does not do well in shade. Decideous. Keep outdoors.

Aka Alpine Willow. This weeping pussy willow originally introduced from China is now found throughout the U.S. and Canada. The Willow is an old world tree, much celebrated in poetry. Twigs and branchlets divide into thin stems that hang in pendulous curtains to the ground. Leaves sometimes with whitened or silky undersides. The stubby catkins are silver maturing to cream. Only 16" to 20" when fully grown. Likes sun. Decideous. Keep outdoors.

White Rabbit's Foot Fern Bonsai Tree

The White Rabbit's Foot Fern is native to the Canary Islands and can grow as a terrestrial or epiphyte. It has finely dissected fronds that rise up from its furry, silver rhizomes hence the name "White Rabbit's Foot Fern". Likes bright light but avoid direct sun.
